Community Consultation Committee
The Community Consultation Committee brings together parents, community representatives and Elders from a cross-section of the remote, rural and urban communities represented within the College.
The purpose of the Committee is to provide a structured forum for these representatives to meet with the Principal to discuss the strategic direction and priorities of the College. It also creates an opportunity for stakeholders to offer formal feedback and develop a deeper understanding of the education and opportunities provided at St Teresa’s College.
This consultation structure differs from traditional school board models. It reflects the College’s commitment to working in genuine partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, recognising that mainstream governance approaches are not always the most appropriate or culturally effective.

School Advisory Committee
The School Advisory Committee works collaboratively with the College Principal and EREA Colleges to support the ongoing development of St Teresa’s College as a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition.
Committee members contribute their experience, knowledge and community perspectives to provide advice and support in areas such as:
- the College’s Catholic identity and Edmund Rice tradition
- child safeguarding
- strategic planning and long-term sustainability
- budgets, capital works and master planning
- school policies and improvement processes
- strengthening connections between the College and its community.
The Committee provides valuable advice, insight and support to the Principal and College leadership team. It does not hold governance responsibility or take part in the College’s day-to-day operations. Ultimate governance and accountability remain with EREA Colleges.
